Mariana García Mejía
Mariana García Mejía Colombian art-worker based in Berlin. As an artist, she creates space-installations with sound, smell, text, sculptural elements with a relational focus. She is interested in deep-listening and collaborative creative practices to foster emotional encounters by offering intimate, while collective/open spaces. Her work delves into themes of refuge, memory and the search for home. Explores the poetics and politics of belonging by referencing childhood imaginaries, as well as human and non-human aurality practices. Ultimately her search intends to bring to the present heart-states of tenderness with a critical radical perspective. The starting point and goal of her work is the concept of compassion (Mit_gefühl), which implies a shared intimacy of affects. This, hoping that art can liberate us from loneliness, inspire us to resist against cultures of violence and to serve as a medium to raise ecological awareness and build community.
Her practice as an art worker also encompasses experimental curating, production, and cultural management around contemporary art and music. In 2026 she presented her first solo exhibition at Hošek Contemporary, Berlin. She has participated in group exhibitions in Colombia, Germany, Korea, Brazil, and Japan at venues including Savvy Contemporary, Floating University, and the Incheon International Marine Festival and Film. She has produced and curated art events internationally, including a group performance for the Conjugations program of the 36th São Paulo Bienal, as well as exhibitions and sound-based community events in the US, Colombia, and Germany.
