Jan Nicola Angermann
Jan Nicola Angermann is an independent artist and cultural producer who currently lives in Kassel. He interweaves artistic, art-mediating, and curatorial work and knowledge with one another. His practice is driven by a commitment to equality and fairness – socially, politically, and ecologically. Rooted in his own experience as the first academic in a working-class family, raised by a single mother, he understands precarity from the inside. He aims to create democratic realms of becoming and to reach out to individuals intimidated by the aura of museums and high culture. Most recently, he directed the offspace WUNDERKAMMER – NATURALIA | ARTIFICIALIA and curated Hyper-/ Un-/ Sur-Real. He was a managing member of the Künstlerbund Baden-Württemberg and a fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude. Furthermore, he has received scholarships and funding from IFA Institute, Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg, and Stiftung Kunstfonds.
