Zhanna Kadyrova
Zhanna Kadyrova is a Ukrainian artist who works across various media, including sculpture, mosaic, photography, video, installation, and performance. Born in 1981 in Brovary, she graduated from the sculpture department of the Taras Shevchenko State Art High School in Kyiv. Her work engages with themes of the city, memory, social transformation, and war. She was a member of the R.E.P. (Revolutionary Experimental Space) group. Kadyrova lives and works in Kyiv.
In recent years, she has realized a number of projects related to the war and the experience of displacement, including PALIANYTSIA, RUSSIAN ROCKET, REFUGEES, and INSTRUMENT.
Kadyrova is the recipient of several prestigious art awards, including Kazimir Malevich Artist Award (2012), PinchukArtCentre Prize (main prize, 2013) for Monumental Propaganda. Special Prize – Future Generation Art Prize (2014), Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine (2024) for the project Trajectories of Flight, Her Art Prize (2025).
Her works are held in major public collections across Europe, including the Centre Pompidou (Paris), Museum Ludwig (Cologne), Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea (Turin), Museum of Modern Art of Warsaw (Warsaw), Helsinki Art Museum (Helsinki), and the Art Collection of the German Bundestag (Berlin).
